Fighting Saints take on #10 CMCC

College of St. Joseph's men's basketball team plays at Central Maine Community College on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 2pm.

The Mustangs are 11-5 on the season after losing 59-95 at Vermont Technical College on Jan. 18. Rodney Theodore led CMCC in scoring against the Knights with 13 points. He also had 3 steals and 2 assists. Fellow starter Josh Chery tallied 12 points, 5 rebounds. Corey David posted 6 rebounds, 5 points, 4 assists and 1 steal. The Mustangs trailed 25-50 at halftime and were outscored 45-34 in the second half of play.

CSJ played Vermont Tech on Dec. 5 and fell 102-127. The Fighting Saints trailed 64-47 at half and outscored 63-55 in the second frame. Mickalous Snowden had a career night with 40 points off 14-for-29 shooting from the field, including 8-of-16 shooting from the 3-point line. Charles Isaac Jr. had 18 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals and DQ Abernathy tallied 14 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists.

Isaac leads CSJ offensively and is sixth in scoring in USCAA Division II with 21.9 ppg. He shoots 48 percent from the floor and leads the Saints in rebounding with 5.2 rpg. He is second on the team in assists per game (2.6) and steals per game (2). He has scored 22 points or more in his last three games, most recently recording 27 points against USCAA Division II #1 ranked team Villa Maria College on Jan. 19.

Mickalous Snowden is CSJ's second leading scorer at 18.1 ppg. He is shooting 41 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from three. He is the Fighting Saints' best free throw shooter at 85.3 percent and fourth in assists per game (1.1). Brian Kennedy also averages double digit scoring for CSJ at 13.1 ppg.

The Mustangs are led in scoring by Elijah Barbour, who is averaging 14.5 ppg. Chery is second in scoring for CMCC at 12.8 ppg and Theodore and David are tied for third at 10.3 ppg. Chery leads the team in rebounds per game with 6. David does a little of everything for the Mustangs; he is second in rebounding (5.7 rpg), and leads the team in assists per game (4.1) and steals per game (1.5).
