College of St. Joseph's volleyball team fell 3-0 to Green Mountain College (GMC) on Wednesday, Oct. 10. The Lady Saints had the initial advantage in both the first and third sets, but ultimately fell 25-20, 25-20 and 25-17.
Before the contest, Sheena Pete was recognized for Senior Night. She has been an integral part of the 2018 CSJ volleyball team as a defensive specialist.
The GMC Eagles displayed a balanced attack, with five of their seven players recording four kills or more. When CSJ would build a lead, the Eagles would remain composed and slowly claw their way back.
GMC's Thunder Williams and Madison Wheeler each recorded four kills while Dakota Kleefeld had five. Estela Felix Almeida and Danielle Sill led GMC with six kills apiece. Wheeler notched a team-high eight service aces for the Eagles and Sandra Parra led the team in digs with nine.
Ryann Agnew led the Lady Saints in kills (10) and digs (nine) while also recording one block assist. Sophomore Jordan Mixon led CSJ with four service aces and also recorded six digs and two kills. Denyke Nicholas was second on the team in digs with seven. Sabrena Eye recorded four digs, three kills, one assist and one service ace. She also had one solo block and a block assist.
The Lady Saints play next at Fisher College on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 1pm.
