College of St. Joseph's volleyball team travels to Central Maine Community College (CMCC) this weekend for matches against CMCC and UMaine-Machias (UMM). The Lady Saints play against the two Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) teams on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 2pm and 4 pm. On Sunday, Sept. 16, the Lady Saints face CMCC at Unity College at 1pm.
Both CSJ and CMCC will face off having just one game under their belts for the 2018 season. CMCC took on defending YSCC Champion New Hampshire Technical Institute on Tuesday, Sept. 11 and were dealt their first loss of the year.
CSJ (0-1) fell to UMM (2-5) three sets to one in a tournament held at Paul Smith's College (PSC) on Sept. 8. Each set CSJ lost was by seven points or less, indicating a positive showing for the Saints' first match of the season.
Machias, on the other hand, has competed in seven matches thus far. The Clippers fell to UMaine-Presque Isle twice by the score of 3-0 on Sept. 5. They defeated Unity 3-2 in a conference match on Sept. 6. UMM went 1-1 on Sept. 8, taking home the win over CSJ and a 3-1 loss to PSC. On Sept. 9, Machias was handed a 3-0 defeat by Green Mountain College. They fell to Husson University by the same score on Sept. 11.
CSJ looks to bounce back against UMM Saturday afternoon and notch two wins over CMCC by the end of the weekend.
