College of St. Joseph's women's basketball team lost 81-61 to an experienced University of Maine - Augusta team in Maine on Sunday. Daija Black led the Saints with 16 points and four assists. The Moose had four starters record double-digit points in the contest.
The Fighting Saints only trailed by seven at halftime, 28-35. Augusta was able to pull away with 20-plus points in the third and fourth quarters.
For CSJ, Rachel Bruneel netted three of five from three-point range and added a field goal and free throw for 12 points. Bruneel also had three rebounds. Arielys Rodriguez added 10 points and two steals off the bench. Jayla Latham led the squad in rebounding with six, and scored eight points. Dymond Collins led the team with three steals while netting eight points and pulling down five rebounds. Nakeeya Goodman-Boddie had three assists and two rebounds.
UMA's Caitlin LaFountain notched a double-double, scoring 27 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Dominique Lewis scored 22 points with the help of six three-pointers. Fellow starters Carmen Bragg and Sidney Moore scored 13 and 12 points, respectively. The Moose shot 42.9% from three.
The Lady Saints face the Johnson State Badgers next on Nov. 15 at 5:30 p.m.
