Falcons fly past Saints

College of St. Joseph's men's basketball team fell 81-55 to Fisher College on Feb. 5.

The Falcons surged to a 43-20 halftime lead, which provided a cushion for the remainder of the game. CSJ scored 35 points to Fisher's 38 in the second half.

Fisher had the hot hand throughout the game, shooting 51.7 percent (31-for-60) from the field as a team and 37.5 percent (3-for-8) from 3-point range. CSJ shot 31.9 percent from the field (23-for-72) and 23.1 percent (6-for-26) from downtown. The Falcons pulled down 51 team rebounds and CSJ recorded 35 rebounds as a team.

Fisher utilized their height, scoring 48 points in the paint. CSJ scored 26 points in the paint. The Falcons were led by Giovanni Thompson, who shot 10-of-14 and 6-of-10 from the free throw line for 26 points. He also had 11 rebounds. Jhalen Lumpkins came off the bench to record 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 1 assist, steal and block.

CSJ's Charles Isaac Jr. tied the game-high 26 points. He also recorded 6 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 assists. He was the only Fighting Saints to reach double digit points in the contest. Adley Eliacin had 7 points, 3 assists. Mickalous Snowden was not his usual scoring self, but contributed in several other ways with 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 points and 2 steals. John Ryals III had 5 rebounds, 4 points off the bench for CSJ.

The Fighting Saints are back on the court Wednesday, Feb. 6 when they host Green Mountain College at 7pm.
