College of St. Joseph men's basketball team travels to New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI) for a rematch against the Lynx at 7:30pm.
CSJ is 5-16 on the season and looking to record their first win of 2019. The Fighting Saints nearly tallied that win in a game against Villa Maria College on Jan. 11. The Saints outscored the Vikings 44-42 in the second half, but lost 90-84. CSJ most recently played two games in Buffalo, N.Y. The Fighting Saints lost to Bryant & Stratton (Buffalo) 82-72 on Jan. 18 and Villa Maria 107-86 on Jan. 19. To read a full recap, click here.
At 18-3, NHTI ranks #2 in USCAA Division II Men's Basketball standings, behind Villa Maria. The Lynx have won their last five games by an average of over 19 points. They have defeated Vermont Tech 88-73 (Jan. 22) and UMaine Fort Kent 103-84 (Jan. 18). CSJ played VTC on Dec. 5 and fell 127-102. On Dec. 8, in a game that was their third in four day, the Saints dropped a contest 126-84 to Fort Kent.
CSJ hosted NHTI on Dec. 7 and fell 107-67. The Fighting Saints shot just 33 percent from the field, 21 percent from 3-point range and 55 percent from the foul line. The Lynx shot 50 percent from the field as a team and 40 percent from three.
NHTI's J'Quavious Thurmond scored a game-high 22 points while also recording 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Sam Dorissaint also had a big game against the Saints, scoring 17 points and tallying 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals. Fellow NHTI starter recorded 16 points. The Fighting Saints were led by Charles Isaac Jr. with 20 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals and 2 blocks. Mickalous Snowden had 18 points and Bryan Nunez scored 11 of the bench for CSJ.
The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) regional matchup will take place after a women's matchup between CSJ and NHTI at 5:30pm.
