College of St. Joseph's baseball team is currently ranked #12 in the United States Collegiate Athletic Assocation (USCAA). Starting pitcher Justin Holmberg is ranked #5 in the nation in strikeouts with 54. Holmberg is a junior out of Albany, N.Y. He is 5-3 on the year for the Fighting Saints.
After a highly successful fall season (6-2), the Fighting Saints have shown their grit and perseverance throughout a grueling Spring 2019 schedule. CSJ has dealt with adversity in the challenge of a small roster and short staff of pitchers. Despite this, the Fighting Saints step up to the challenge and perform. The squad recently won three straight games against Central Maine Community College. Read a full recap of the contests here. CSJ is currently outranked by Southern Maine Community College (SMCC), who is #2 in the USCAA. The Saints were scheduled to play SMCC at home on April 15, but the doubleheader was postponed due to heavy rain. In the fall, CSJ defeated the Seawolves 4-1 in both games of a doubleheader in South Portland, Maine. Read a recap of the fall games here. The Spring rematch is highly anticipated.
